Describe Installation |
Installation is the process of copying files to the appropriate locations so
your program will work correctly. The following procedures explain how
to make a directory in different environments including DOS, Windows 3.1
and Windows 95. |
|
Install in Windows 3.1 |
To run a program from Windows 3.1, you pull down 'file', then 'run'. It
provides you with a box to fill in the filename, like the image below.![]() If you are having a little trouble remembering the filename, you can use the browse button to find it. |
|
Install in Windows 95 |
Windows 95 has a built in Install/Uninstall procedure. It theoretically can
completely uninstall any program it installed. To utilize this feature, you need to bring up the 'Control Panel' by clicking on 'Start', 'Settings' and 'Control Panel'. Select the icon labeled 'Add/Remove Programs'. Once it comes up, make sure the tab is set to Install/Uninstall, then hit the install button. Like the figure below: ![]() The next screen reminds you to put in the diskette, CD-ROM or whatever media the install program resides on. Just hit the 'Next' button to continue. The following screen allows you to type in the name of the program to run. I usually tell you the name and include the drive and directory with it. If you are having trouble, you may use the browse button to go look for the file. ![]() |
